How can I create a really nice nursery on a budget?
I just found out I am having a boy so now I am ready to start shoping for decor. The problem is we are on a budget. I don't want to exhaust all the money I've set aside on one thing. Most of the bedding sets I've seen are around $150 to $200. I had no idea they would cost as much as my comforter set!
I bought a crib, changing table, and chest combo at Wal-Mart for a really good price. It got rave reviews online. At first I thought it would look cheap and probably be made cheaply since it was from Wal-Mart, but the reviews state otherwise.
We either want to do Noah's Ark or a Safari Theme. But all the accessories, wall stickers, garbage pails, diaper hanger, mobile, etc. are so expensive once you add everything up. I priced this one set online last night and it came up to almost $500.

DIY projects will save you tons of money. Do you sew? If not, do you know anyone who does?
Are you having a shower? Instead of gifts others choose for you, why not see if your friends/family will help you complete your nursery for a shower gift? You can arrange all the colours, material for bedding. Stencil the animals on the wall..cover the lamp shade to match, or decoupage an animal on the lamp base. It is amazing how much fun it can be for people to get together and help out decorating. If one of your friends/relative cannot do any of the work, no problem..one can make lunch, or take pictures for a scrapbook. Run the idea by your close friend or Mom and see what they think...or you can do this yourself..no matter which way, take pics all along...great memory book to pass on.
